JACKSONVILLE – After starting the 2018 NFL season (3-1) most people believed the Jacksonville Jaguars were building a solid foundation for a winning season in the AFC South. In week five Jacksonville lost on the road to the Kansas City Chiefs 30-14. With nagging injuries, trade rumors, and changes in the starting line up the Jaguars (3-8) season has not been the same since September 30th.

“It’s still some football to play,” Myles Jack said. “We still got a job to do. We still go continue playing, continue fighting hard and finish this thing out the right way.”

In the highly competitive NFL the Jacksonville Jaguars have lost 7 games in a row. The Jaguars have 5 games remaining in the season, with only 2 home games at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville. Players I talked to in the Jaguars locker room shared a collective theme of thriving through adversity while looking for ways to win a football game.

“Now is not the time to cower or point fingers, things are going bad,” Myles Jack said. “We just gotta stand tall and continue fighting though them and eventually we will get them.”

Coach Doug Marrone helped guide the Jaguars to the AFC Championship game in 2017. This season is unfolding to be quite the opposite in 2018. Cody Kessler will start vs. Indianapolis. Blake Bortles is being moved to backup quarterback. The Jaguars also fire offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. The Jaguars are making moves to show improve going forward.

“The focus will be on everyone, We have to look at putting the players out there that can secure the football on offense, do what we need to do to not loose games,” Coach Doug Marrone said. “We don’t even have opportunities to win them when you turn the ball over three times.

Leonard Fournette, the elusive second year running back out of LSU has only played in 5 games in 2018. Fournette is recovering from a nagging hamstring injury he suffered late in the first half of the season opener against the New York Giants. He returned in week 4 versus the New York Jets but aggravated the hamstring injury late in the first half.

“It’s hard to have the same results each and every year you gotta come out here and compete, do your job, win one on one’s. Leonard Fournette said. “We just fell short this week.”

Fournette, the Jaguars’ first-round pick last year, has 314 yards rushing and 14 catches for 134 yards, and 5 touchdowns in 2018. Fournette is currently serving a one game suspension without pay for running one the field to help his teammates in a push and shove match Sunday, November 25th. A game the Jaguars lost on the road to the Buffalo Bills 42-21.

The Jaguars are hungry for a win! “We show what we can do every week,” Telvin Smith said. “Going forward we just got to play better.”

Jacksonville Jaguars host Indianapolis Colts Sunday, December 2nd 1 p.m. at TIAA Bank Field.
